Introduction
This is a workshop for practitioners with some experience in Schema Therapy who wish to update their skills with recent innovations in the field and who wish to fine tune their abilities in complex mode formulation and the experiential techniques of Schema Therapy. We will consider the role of trauma in underpinning complex presentations and how to adapt Schema Therapy ways of working with this in mind.
The event will be equivalent to 5.1/2hrs of CPD.
Content
The workshop is suitable for clinicians who have a good understanding of Schema Therapy model and are experienced in using core Schema Therapy techniques. We will cover:
• Mode mapping complexity: Creative ways of using conceptualization to guide treatment
• A review of the role of trauma in how we modify Schema Therapy
• The Critic: When do we challenge a Critic vs negotiate with a fused Critic who may also be an attachment figure?
• Fine tuning imagery rescripting where there is additional complexity
• Chair work: Managing mode shifting and blended modes
• Using empathic confrontation to name complex interpersonal dynamics/ruptures
The workshop will include a mix of theory, live demonstration and videos to bring to life all aspects of the training.
Learning Objectives
• To support delegates to hone their formulation skills with complex presentations within ST framework.
• To integrate key theories from the trauma literature as a useful framework for guiding ST, drawing on neurobiological, attachment and relational framework theories
• To guide delegates to adopt flexible and creative ways of working with self-criticism, self-hatred, shame and guilt: placing interventions with the Critic modes on a continuum of empathic confrontation to befriending
• To support delegates to deepen imagery work by using the body as a resource
• To introduce delegates to simple yet effective adaptations to chair work to maximise clinical change
• To guide clients to use empathic confrontation effectively where there are therapy interfering modes.
Training Modalities
Live role plays and video demonstrations.

Please click below if you are interested in contributing to the survey.
The BACP Low Intensity SIG are interested in the impact of clinical contact hours on Low Intensity/Wellbeing Practitioner wellbeing. This questionnaire contains six multi-choice questions and a free text box for you to share your experiences. The answers to these questions will help the BABCP SIG plan how to meet CPD topics and other developments within the SIG. The SIG hope to produce a write up of the answers to this questionnaire to be shared with SIG members and to be used in training.
This FREE conference is for Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners working in Talking Therapies for Anxiety and Depression services and is brought to you by Bespoke Mental Health in collaboration with the NHS National PWP Leads Network.
